Media Servers
An audiobook and podcast library on your own server.
The open-source server and web client are free to self-host. Supply your own audiobook files and podcast feeds; storage, a server and network access can cost extra. Audiobookshelf does not include Audible, Spotify or Netflix subscription catalogs. The official mobile apps are in beta, and the iOS beta is currently full; the browser client remains available.
Check official pricingStream and organize your own audiobooks and podcasts, with listening progress synced across devices. A self-hosting option is recorded for this project. Review the official deployment instructions and maintenance requirements before running it yourself.
The server, storage and media files are your responsibility. No Audible, Spotify or Netflix subscription catalog is included. The /config database folder must be on local storage, not a network mount. Keep the mount directories separate. The official mobile apps are in beta; the iOS beta is currently full. These steps use the browser client.

An extensible music server for a computer or Raspberry Pi.
The Apache-licensed core is free and plays local audio files and internet radio. It runs on a computer with audio output and uses a web client or an optional MPD extension for control; hardware, storage and third-party client costs are separate. It includes no Spotify, Audible or Netflix subscription catalog. Service extensions have separate requirements: Mopidy-Spotify requires Spotify Premium and its current README warns that third-party access-token streaming has been disabled, so do not rely on it as free or guaranteed Spotify playback.

A small self-hosted server for your own music collection.
The GPL music server is free to self-host and includes an administration interface. Listening requires a compatible Subsonic client; some clients are paid, so choose a free client for a no-cost software setup. Hardware, storage and network costs are separate. Its music and podcasts come from your own files and feeds, not a Spotify, Audible or Netflix subscription catalog. Optional transcoding needs FFmpeg.
